Very easy to change to manual hubs, they are so simple my 9yr old could do it. Laughing

I've still got auto hubs in mine, would like to replace with manual ones but its all about cost just now. I did strip, clean & regrease my auto ones, I also replaced the C clips with some external circlips which seemed to give much better purchase. (Take the cover off, measure the diameter of the parallel part of the shaft that the C clip goes around & then go along to your local engineering supplier & ask for a pair of external circlips for X diameter shaft. They're deeper thru than the C clip & hang on tighter)
A way to test to see if your hubs are working is to engage them (for manual hubs, or simply engage 4wd for autos) on a firm surface ( a carpark would  be OK, then gently drive forward, turning slightly at the same time. You will quickly be able to feel the resistance as the transmission winds up if all is OK. STOP now , disengage 4wd & reverse along the same path. This should, alow the wind up to unwind & the hubs to disengage. Don't overdo it & be gentle & it shouldn't cause any lasting damage. HTH
Cheers, Steve.
