|

Hi there folks
I've got a really strange problem with (I think ) the front drive of my 94 lwb auto Bighorn!
It all started when on a right turn when the n/s wheel would bounce like mad on small bumps (would nearly shake the steering wheel out of my hand!) I knew straight away that the shocker was gone but didn't get round to changing it for about 5k.
Changed it about 3 weeks ago and it sorted it
Noticed about a week later that there was an intermittent rattle from the o/s whilst going over bumps.
I noticed that the shocker on that side had a small mark on it as if it had been rubbing.
It cleared after a few days and i thought it was sorted.
Drove from Oxford to West Wales (200 mile) and the rattle has come back with a vengeance!!!!
It also seems to be coming from both sides now
When I grab hold of the drive shaft from behind the wheel and turn it, it makes a similar sort of rattle
It seems to me that the auto locking hub is making the noise but only on a bumpy roads. I tried some serious off roading in Wales and the 4wd works fine. I did notice when reversing to unlock the hubs that the didn't click first time and it took me a few attempts to get them to click!!
Can they make a rattle just going over bumps or am I being stupid
Is it a coincidence that I just changed the shockers?
I have also noticed that I can't get any more than 22mpg out of her (run from Oxford to Leeds and back at a steady 60-70 mph)
Could they be stuck on?
Help me please
Sorry the post is so long, thought I'd try and give as much info as possible.
Thanks,

Thanks guys, I will take the covers off and have a look if I ever get the car back!!! Bloody wife hates the fuel consumption but I can't get her out of the thing
Out of interest are they oil or grease filled???
If grease can they be re-packed?
Thanks again,
Chad. _________________ 1994 Isuzu Bighorn Irmscher 3.1 LWB (with recaro's) ) |
