Hi there folks  Smile

I've got a really strange problem with (I think Confused ) the front drive of my 94 lwb auto Bighorn!

It all started when on a right turn when the n/s wheel would bounce like mad on small bumps (would nearly shake the steering wheel out of my hand!) I knew straight away that the shocker was gone but didn't get round to changing it for about 5k.

Changed it about 3 weeks ago and it sorted it  Very Happy

Noticed about a week later that there was an intermittent rattle from the o/s whilst going over bumps.

I noticed that the shocker on that side had a small mark on it as if it had been rubbing.

It cleared after a few days and i thought it was sorted.

Drove from Oxford to West Wales (200 mile) and the rattle has come back with a vengeance!!!!
It also seems to be coming from both sides now Confused

When I grab hold of the drive shaft from behind the wheel and turn it, it makes a similar sort of rattle Confused  Confused  Confused

It seems to me that the auto locking hub is making the noise but only on a bumpy roads. I tried some serious off roading in Wales and the 4wd works fine. I did notice when reversing to unlock the hubs that the didn't click first time and it took me a few attempts to get them to click!!

Can they make a rattle just going over bumps or am I being stupid Embarassed
Is it a coincidence that I just changed the shockers?

I have also noticed that I can't get any more than 22mpg out of her (run from Oxford to Leeds and back at a steady 60-70 mph)

Could they be stuck on?
Help me please Question

Sorry the post is so long, thought I'd try and give as much info as possible.

Thanks,

Chad Mad

Out of interest are they oil or grease filled???

If grease can they be re-packed?
