Just a word of advice, allways make sure that you clean the mating surfaces of the housing properly, or you could break the housing when you bolt it back together.  Very Happy

pmsl, good idea to find that sort of thing out on a cheap part though.

On the 2.8 the torque figure is very low, it must be higher on the newer ones.

Right, the 2.8 engine manual is brilliant.....................except where exactly is the thermostat !!!!!!

Cooling system components are shown in isolation and parts removed to remove the engine are labelled on a nice diagram but where is the shot of the whole thing with all the bits and pieces labelled ??

Is it at the front of the head ?

The top rad hose runs directly to the t-stat housing.

Two bolts secure the top on.

manic , go to engines forum goto page 3 find thead called engines goto page 4 scroll down to first pic and you will see the thermo housing just by the rad, this is to save you going out in the cold to look.
