Sorry for my topic heading but this is driving me nuts

4 weeks ago I took collection of my 60,000 miler 2000 X plate 3.0TD Citation.

Bought it to tow with and it is great at that.

its' had all the recall work and came with full service history.

However it is proven to be a tad unreliable on the old starting front.

First when it got to below about 5C it wouldn't start - this looked like it was to do with the fact that the batteries were almost shot and jumping it cured it every time - so two new truck batteries and she seemed fine.

Then yesterday lunch time popped out to the shops and she started but kept stalling, if I didn't keep the revs up - after about 5 mins of driving it was fine.  And later on she seemed ok during the drive home 5 hours later (although did seem a little hesitant at first)

Now this morning NaDa not a *beep* bird.  Turns over fine, batteries fine, tries to catch a couple of times but wont take (yes she has fuel).

I'm thinking that it is either one of the following but not an expert so would welcome some suggestions:

1.  Glow plugs knackered
2. Low oil pressure or faulty sensor prevents injectors firing (oil level seems fine tho)
3.  Blocked fuel line
4 Knackered injectors (unlikely as replaced under recall in march)
5. some dodgy wiring!

Now I kind of can work my way round carb petrol engines but struggle with diesels as no idea where to start or what is what!  Embarassed

Anyhelp greatfully received (especially as I am booked in with the caravan this weekend so could do with her running)

I have phoned dealer and they have said they will pick her up - but hey they couldn't properly fix it last time

No2 sounds about favourite on that one, but wait to see what the 3.0 lot think.

Ooo - sounds like a funny one! Assuming your above the minimum the oil level will not have any affect on the oil pressure ... the important one with this engine is to have enough pressure in the oil gallery above the injectors - for this your engine has a pump to generate the required pressure.

If your local dealer cant help try Cotwolds Isuzu - they are wizards with the 3.0 engines! Tel 01993 776622

If you do stick with your local make sure they have a Tech2 ... without it the diagnosis will be long and like chasing a rainbow!

Is the dealer an Isuzu dealer or just a trader? Its important they get it plugged into a Tech2 computer .. without this they will be searching for days.

Ouch - thats harsh pete  Laughing

Tim - make sure your garage have used 5w30 grade oil ... anything different and it will run like a pig... this engine MUST have 5w30 as the oil is pumped up over a gallery on the back of the injectors - this oil then pushes on the injectors to force the diesel into the cylinders at a high pressure.
