Right they have the part in their hands and are going to fit it today, getting me a loaner for a few days so that they can keep it to check that it doesn't reoccur.

Fingers crossed

Sounds as though they are shouldering the responsibility in a proper manner. Good.

Can't argue with that. They sound like a decent enough outfit to me.

They have fixed the fault - Dropped the truck back off yesterday and this morning started straight away.

Can't fault them they have accepted all their responsibilities without any complaint

I think mine's just caught a similar disease!

Most of the time she behaves just fine, but occasionally and quite randomly:

- Stalls repeatedly but restarts every time.
- Jerks violently and randomly whilst driving.
- Flat refuses to start and then goes as if nothing had ever happened!
- Growls loudly at low revs as if the timing suddenly advances itself (engine hot).

I've changed the oil (5/30) and all filters.

I am running on 50/50 rape seed oil/diesel but I wouldn't have thought that would influence things?

I am wondering if the pressure sensor is the most probable villain (although I can't see why it would make it growl)?

If so can anybody tell me where it is located?

The pressure sensor is located in the high pressure oil rail on the back of the injectors - if you look under the rocker cover its a small round silver unit. If the sensor is changed it needs coding in on a Tech2 machine before it will run correctly. It may also be worth checking the oil strainer in the sump.

Aaaaah........ So just getting my local spanner man to pop a new one in isn't going to sort it then? I don't want to put it into our local Isuzu dealer because I'm not sure they wouldn't want the deeds to my house. I know somebody who is a Vauxhall specialist who has Tech2 - would he have to have special software and expertise to do what's required? Would the thing run at least well enough to drive to a Tech2 if I just replaced the pressure sender without Tech2?

The pick-up strainer job - is that subject to recall? I only ask because I have checked and have been told that all recalls have been completed on this one.

As far as I know you can replace the sensor yourself but then the motor will not run any better until coded into the system. As for the strainer... dont think its a recall item, i am getting mine done next time its in for service as they are now fitting a strainer of a different design.

I meant to ask you - is there a diagnostic test to confirm it's the pressure sender? I mean, is there anything Tech2 can do to assist - or any other test routine?
