On my 2000 Citation to the left of the steering wheel there is a small "notch" in the dash - any ideas what an earth it is for?

(It is about  half inch across about 1/4 inch high and about 1/4 inch deep)

If it was a bit bigger I would say it's for coins but no idea what it's purpose is
