Ha Ha - I know - but it bugs me because it must be there for a reason - even if that reason is that there used to be a switch there and they couldn't be bothered to change the dash when the switch went!

I have one on mine, too. Somebody went to a great deal of time and trouble to put that funny little recess in the fascia - it's a shame nobody seems to have a clue what it's for!

some australian models (jackaroo and monterey= bighorn) had security/anti theft devices fitted from factory. this is where the dash lit up on entering and exiting the vehicle and when you put the keys in to dissarm the immobiliser. anyway its what it says in the manual that came with my bighorn.

On my 2000 Citation to the left of the steering wheel there is a small "notch" in the dash - any ideas what an earth it is for?

(It is about  half inch across about 1/4 inch high and about 1/4 inch deep)

If it was a bit bigger I would say it's for coins but no idea what it's purpose is

There is one each side on my bighorn dash. The left one is where the Auto-Cruise display would be. The one on the right is for the Check Auto- Trans Warning & Anti-Theft system warnings would be. Well that's according to my handbook. Hope that helps a bit.
