Hello people. as i am new to the Trooper and this is my first automatic. Should i be using the overdive as an engine brake?
In the book, it says to only use overdrive on the open road. But when i break to slow down i take the ovedrive out creating engine brake like a manual. Someone has told me i should break to slow speed then take out the overdrive as to not damage the automatic gearbox. Is this true?

Use the brakes!!!! It's cheaper. Wink

However, horses for courses, would you rely on the brakes with 2 tons underneath you and 2 tons behind you going down a long steep hill? I think not.... Shocked

i use both brakes and gearbox. i once had severe brake fade on a 38ton wagon, big hill,overweight, inexperince! never again!
