is there any thing you have to do to your motor before driving it in water but not to deep.

Yes, check the depth of the water so you get no surprises!  
Trooper should be ok.   Best to check the breathers on the axles.  Make sure the pipes to the chassis are still in place.  
The important thing is after going through water.  Always go round with a grease gun.  Grease is hydrophobic so all the grease points will be dry once you have done a few miles.  So steering linkages, propshaft uj's and all other grease nipples should be treated.

Hi .. on the subject of water Smile any one know the safe maximum depth for driving thru water on a std trooper? and is the petrol much worse for crossing water?

yes i would like to know the max depth too but as for petrol engines they always run a risk of water getting to the dizzy cap and causing a missfire but a quick wipe and a spray with wd40 will sort it also it might pay to give it a spray and ignition leads too just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for that .. had a look and no dizzy cap Smile bit worried about altenator cutting out and engine stopping... wasnt a problem on the shogun as it would run fine with no power Smile
if im never seen again ill be stuck floating some where in welney wash lol might wait for some one else to go through it first and follow from a short distance  Shocked

I wouldn't go through Welney wash at the moment, even the lorries have stopped going through!  The biggest problem there is the bow wave from the traffic comming the other way.
