Hi all. I drive a 1994 3.1 SWB Trooper with manual box and 245,000 miles on. Recently it was getting difficult to change gear without grinding the gears and thepedal was very floppy at the top of its travel. I suspected the clutch pedal bush so I ordered a new one from the dealer. When I took out the clutch pedal sure enough the rubber was knackered and all I was left with was the two metal inner and outer bushes (much like a suspension bush). However to my dismay I discovered that the original bush had been crimped in place at the factory and there was no way to get the old one out and the new one in without destroying the pedal and/or the new bush. Even if the old bush could be got out, welding the new one in is out of the question because of the rubber. There are no retaining clips or anything like that, just a hole in the pedal and a groove around the middle of the bush for the metal to deform and hold it in place.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you solve it?

Cheers,
James

Long time ago, but I've had the same with my pedal bush rubber disintegrating - I made a plastic bush from something I had around and melted the original inner metal tube into a slightly smaller hole in the middle of the plastic bush, then Araldited the bush into the pedal sleeve that was left in the pedal shaft.
