I have a 1988 trooper 2 with a 2.6L gas motor, when I try to crank it it start for 1 second then shut off. If i hold the key to start after a little while it will stay running. The check engine light will be on, but if i push the gas 2 times in a row it will shut off. If i put it in gear and try to take off it wont let let accelerate it shut off if i push the gas to far. help please

I would say the ballast resistor or coil.

I found it was the mass airflow sensor thanks for your help.
