hope someone can help!
my car starts, but not aswell as normally, she ticks over, but once you take your foot off the pedal, she judders and loses power, this happens when I am driving, when I slow down at a junction and take my foot off the peddle to change gears, she loses power and stalls
we fitted another fuel filter and put in the cleaner in the fuel tank, she was taken for a blast last night, and she is still the same
can anyone help and tell me what her problem is, she air filter is fine and the oil one...
I am on a tight budget this month so any tips to get it sorted without a huge garage bill would be fabs!!
thanks |

Sounds like the old favourite of air in the fuel supply. If the problem started after the filter was changed it may just be that it still needs more bleeding otherwise you need to look for places where air could get in. _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

Did you change the fuel filter after the problem started or before? Is it 3.0 or 3.1? _________________ "quattuor est melior quam duos" |

a way to see if theres air in the system , is to use a length of clear hose from the fuel line to the inlet pipe on the filter . if theres any air in the system it'll show bubbles in the pipe .... _________________ isuzu powered frontera 2.8 td hybrid |

thanks for the replys,
well I took her to a garage (the one I always use) he said it was the whatsit the fuel filter is in..(sorry I cant remember the name) needs replacing as the air is getting in...he put sealent on to see if it would temp fix it...as they couldnt fix today as I need a part...anyway he can get a universal part cheaper as the other one from a main dealer is £120, the uni one is £65..
anyway...I started to drive home, tried to turn left, lost all power, and power steering and almost killed someone! so had a Bazil Faulty moment,
thanks all for your replies, she is now at the garage and getting sorted in the morning |

The "watsit" sounds like the filter housing with priming pump. Was the problem before or after the filter change? _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

It doesn't help me as I'm not predjudiced
Is it fair to assume that the garage changed the filter and the problem persists? Was it quite a steep slope when the problem first started? If so it could possibly be a problem with the pick-up pipe in the tank but fingers crossed they will solve it today and you can be mobile again _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

UPDATE!! still in garage they think well KNOW its now a fuel leak, they think its behind the fuel tank, as the tank is soaked in diesel, but the nuts are solid, so its taking time to remove....they say they cant see whats leaking until the tank is removed I hope its the pipe that has split....I am dreading the phone call, I hope its not the tank, as I am skint, and cant afford to replace it...and its the pipes....
Fingers crossed...anyone got a spare fuel tank lol |

That's bad news toffee There aren't many, good 2nd hand ones about so Marks suggestion about Milners would get the job done a bit quicker. You could call a few local car radiator or car body panel suppliers as they keep fuel tanks as well. _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

thanks for the link, but I am going to just leave it with the garage, he said if he can take it off and not damage it, it could be fyboglassed(sp) which will seal it, but he is still ordering the tank just incase,
I have got my morris minor ready for the summer season, so using that for now, which is great but not the same as my beloved trooper....but very enjoyable |
