Finally - after replacing the rear calliper and
then the left rear brake cable she eventually passed on
her 5th Attempt.

Though the experience has blotted me so much that
I'm thinking of selling 'IT'.

Caliper was exchange unfortanetly

Perhaps the rear mechanism could do with a re-design
by a group of members and perhaps engineer these re-designed
items  Idea  Idea

Though I doubt if it'l be a money turner

The big issue with the rear calipers seems to be lack of care throughout their lives. They don't do a lot of work so people never look at them until they stop working. Fronts get worked so they get looked after.

The handbrake is cr*p, but what do you expect with so many levers, cables & wheels and all controlled by a handle cut off an umbrella Smile

How much was the cable by the way?

Thats exactly what I paid last time for and ADL cable. The price made me think about a bit more maintenance!
Was the old outer sheath split?

Cable looked new'sh
And no sign of wear.

But totally seized up inside.

Looks like it would be a good 'plan' to strip off the rubber protector
and coat in grease then recover,

should then be a permanent or near permanent fix ????

Don't know though may try it Exclamation

A good description of what might be a common fault with the handbrake. I would suggest pulling the rubber sleeve back, getting as much grease in as pos. & then putting the rubber back in place. I'll probably try that as well.
