Are the backplates, on the inside of the disc's on the front needed for mot? i've got an annoying intermitant grinding noise where they're catching the disc. _________________

if backplates are fitted they have to be in a "servicable" condition for mot,but nowhere in construction and use regs and mot guidelines does it say they have to be fitted. |

That's how it stands for HGV's at mot. They don't have to be fitted, but if they are, they have to be secure and not rotten.
Was unsure on the rules for 'light' vehicles. _________________

As a follow-on from this question.....
I've got some rotten back plates on the back axle taken fron a 3.1 that's going into a frontera. As the handbrake cable goes through the backplate, any solutions come to mind because they can't simply be removed? _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

I'll know for certain after the weekend but so far it's looking good. Also means you can fit the Isuzu front to save breaking any more GKNs 8) _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)
