Just had the radio out my mk4 put it back in and the ariel retracted, radio wont work nor will the mirrors. The constant live is working and the radio breifly powers up when plugging in then nothing.

WTF have i done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All help urgently appreciated

edited to add... the clock is also dead

Hi
check the earth cable
then the internal radio fuse
also is engine ignition on or off

Tried it with the ignition off, on and running still the same response.
The only power coming to the radio is on the constant live nothing on the ignition feed.

I was starting to think there may be another inline fuse somewhere but iam f****d if i can see where.!!

Someone remind me never to fiddle with things!!!!!!!!!!

HI
Try the fag lighter fuse in the fuse box
the clock/lighter/radio are normally on the same one

Does the interior light work? Thats on the same fuse. There are two for the radio. Check the relays in the engine bay too, sometimes the contacts get dirty and stick.

not necessery ive come across a couple that have the radio wired in to the aux fuse

id had a problem with my elecy mirrors turned out to b a fuse that had nothing to do with the fing mirrors so try checking them all

Sorry for the lengthy reply guys. Thanks for the tips. I cheated and took it down to one of the better local autosparks. Turned out there was a damaged wire in the loom that was causing it.

Someone remind me not to fiddle with things again please!!!

lol too late... Had the centre colum out last week fitting my cb in the spare DIN slot....

And guess what...........................

EVERYTHING STILL WORKS!!!!!! Laughing
