Hi lads an lasses,, new to the site so pls bare with me,, i have a problem with 1999 3.0 td  overheating (says check engine) Confused.

Not mechanically minded but have flushed radiator, added new coolant, did actually take the spring out of the thermostat

so it was constantly open,, but would that actually cause that kind of problem as in overheating ??

Anyway cracking site you have here and info would be muchly appreciated......
