I got there Dudes, the only dadblamed Trooper! (well 'Horn actually)
Waiting in line with the Mitsi crowd...Nice friendly bunch, very club oriented....Probably about 18 vehicles in all, mixture of Paj's, Delica's a Toyaota or 2 and of course, the obligatory token Landy.
It's a big place with a stunning view! That's Bristol by the way....
There was a lot of landy interest in this ditch all through the day...
Here's why - it was a Landy graveyard! Lot's of winching here....
Lunchtime and this is all the mud i could manage, apart from the odd tree...
And I definitely shouldn't have laughed at this Paj making like a tripod and stuck well in....
'Cos he pulled me out of this mess 5 mins later with a bit of washing line. I kid you not! You can clearly see I dredged out the channel with the old gearbox..thanks mate, much appreciated....
When it's wet, these lanes are lethal. You'd better have a major lift and some Grizzly's on to tackle these. This was a mild bit....
Oh, and I learnt to keep the blasted window shut when I'm digging out!
Here's the aftermath of my "sinking" and my heroic rescuer putting away his washing line.....
Anyway, well worth a visit. There was a bit of a organisational problem on the day, with missing road signage and a lack of marked courses so it was a bit of a free for all, but Vicky assures me that it's not their usual standard, Friendly bunch and plenty of assistance from site Unimogs.
The mag was there snapping away so it's a shame there was only me, a Greenhorn, representing ITOC. We must try and do better dahn sahf!
Good day out and big ups to POC and TLOC for the invite. I had to go early in the afternoon because I wasn't feeling too good, but I'm really glad I made the visit.
Right! 2" lift and new shocks on their way!. By the way, the Colway C-Trax were brilliant. I didn't lose traction all day - fantastic performance of the 'Horn right out of the box. The only thing that banjaxed me that one time was low ground clearance and the beaching, plus the odd problem with fairly large overhang at the rear.... 8) _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..

Great day out mate. Sorry I had to go early, but I think I did my bit! Thanks for the invite and hope we can return the favour some day when I can root some of these Suvvern Softies out on a weekend!
Or even a weekday come to that.....
The Bristol site is quite good for us down here. Only took 2 easy hours driving and about £30 of fuel including the off-roading. At a push I reckon you could do it in 1 1/2 hours from Southampton....
And, of course, it would be a breeze from the Midlands or even Sahf Wales come to that.... _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..

Nah.....
I was...
'kin....
stuck....
Looking on the bright side, I sat there in 4WD low in first and watched my wheeels (all of them!) slowly turning so at least I know my 4WD is working...
To be fair, I was within an ace of getting out. The reason I went in the quagmire to start with, is that I thought the Paj had just gone through the other way and so I reckoned anywhere he could go - I could!
Of course, he hadn't gone through, but around.... that little section was deffo Unimog territory...
Nice colour mud though.. Looks like antelope poo..... _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..

Look here.....
He's grinning far too much for an owner who has just stuffed his motor sideways into a ditch....
He knew...he flaming well knew what was going to happen to me....

I suppose the grinning was when he got out and saw he hadn't pushed in his doors |

Yeah, he was lucky. He ended up 90 degrees to the direction of travel and sideswiped the hedge. The only damage I could see was a bit of paint off the offside bumper, but that could have been a parking issue.. _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..
