I'm going to check out a 3.1td on an M plate at the weekend,it's a SWB. are there any known problems to look out for other than the general condition of it, it's going to be a plaything firstly so need to be looking more at the off roading side of things Smile ?

check the chassis where the torsion bar brackets are mounted at the front as it is prone to cracking and also where the stering box bolts on at the front. with this age vehicle if there was a problem it would have reared its ugly head by now and have been plated up, also try and find out if its got service history and its had the oil changed every 3k.
