There's '94 3.1 Trooper on eebuygum, (just sold), the seller claims it does a 'Nice' 45-55 MPG on a run ! I suggested he was confusing Kilometers with miles, and got a bit shirty with me.
Does any one else get this sort of 'Nice' mileage, if so , please share the secret with me !!

I've got 34.3 mpg out of my 3.1TD LWB auto - but that was on a run of only 159km and under good conditions.
I did have to drive through a city (on a motorway) and I think the slow/fast driving required in the heart of the city with heaps of traffic would have dropped the milage a bit - I would guess that a carefully selected run, with real gentle driving, might _just_ get the results claimed, but for normal driving conditions I would say not.
The real world milage I got recently on a run of 750km was just over 30mpg, and I've found that to be quite consistent over several trips to different destinations and with different loads in the vehicle, so that's the number I quote when asked.

Not chance! The trooper is not aerodynamic or light enough to see that sort of mpg... _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

I think 'CAPS LOCK MAN' on eebuygum must have swapped out his motor for a smart car engine what a merchant banker! Ah but I noticed it a LOTUS model so perhaps it goes a lot faster to cover that mileage (if you get my reasoning )I get about 15 out of my petrol/LPG 3.5 and I'm happy because
ITS AN ISUZU!!!
I didnt want a chelsea tractor *ange *over, or a BLANDcruiser they are pimps cars! _________________ http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/pugwash_photo/trooper201.jpg |

I got low 40's out of my 2.8 last year, but that was on a 300 mile round trip to peterborough at a steady 60 ish. _________________ |

Yeah, good mileage in a 2.8 is very do-able....
45-55 in a 3.1? Never...
I'm amazed they went back to indirect injection, but I know they did it to make the engine "less crackly" , you know, that classic Ford Transit early morning diesel rattle which is a feature of direct injection.
I blame GM for probably thinking they could compete with the Rangie / Land Cruiser market and make a diesel acceptable in the US (after all, they wouldn't be all that worried about fuel consumption at a buck a gallon over there in the early '90's) and went backwards instead.
Isuzu had it right with the 2.8 and they should have carried on with the motor in that form... _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..

My 3.1D has an 85ltr tank, i get 450 miles per tank, on average that is 27MPG, if he gets 45-55mpg i won't his engine, or has he put a 1.1 panda engine in it but not saying? |
