if any1 has got a liteon dvd recorder and is having trouble with it recording and reconising discs, it is the dvd burner that is at fault, mine went this way, the burner inside the recorder is a standard computer burner
svp (www.svp.co.uk) are doing liteon dvd burners for £13 and with a bit of modifying (41/2 grinder to chop the front off the recorder to make the dvd burner fit) these work a treat, i have breathed new life into my recorder (cost me £200 and didnt want to bin it)

Most of the home DVD recorders use a similar mechanism to PC Based DVD drives - chances are you will be able to switch the laser unit over.

We have a Panasonic DVD recorder with Freeview. It stopped reading discs and recording. thought the worst but before it was consingned to the bin i used a DVD cleaning disc and hey presto it works again Very Happy  however the tuner isn't working very well and "bad signal" keeps coming up so it's hardly worth recording anything on ITV  Sad

There is currently a nation-wide problem with ITV sound and vision over Freeview... here in Chorley we fall under the Winter Hill transmitter and dont get anthing on ITV thru the digi box yet analogue is perfect!
