the 3.1 recall is for the ceramic heater wiring only
the wires to the ceramic heater have a connector in them that if loose can become over heated
this connector is cut out and the wires joined togetherby crimped joints

i think grandad may have hit the nail on the head,i phoned isuzu to book my trooper in and explained that it was a 3.1 td and not the 3.0 and she said we have done a lot of the ceramic heater recalls.and then imformed me it would only take around half an hour to complete so it very much sounds like its the job stated above certainly not a big one i will be able to let you know better after the work has been carried out on the 5th june thanks kev.

I've just had my 3.1 Monterey done.

I also got the same letter this morning. Mine is a 94 3.1TD.

There is a "long term safety issue with the ceramic component in the heating system"

They also go on to say that "we will also carry out any outstanding service issues"

Our only problem now is getting it to our "local" Isuzu dealership, 50 miles away.... The wife and I are both self employed and work 7 days a week with only 2 hours off in an weekeday afternoon!!  Would it matter if I Had to get someone else to take it through?  I guess it depends on how long they will need to keep it in for too....

I will be interested to see how it all goes!

I have just phoned my isuzu dealership and they were most helpful ... apparently it is not an urgent recall and there is no cut off date to get the work done, so they have advised that if I or any friend or family member are ever coming through to Kendal to come with the recall notice and they will do the work for me then, it will take 30 - 45 minutes, just give them a quick ring before we set off.

I feel left out, I haven't had a letter.

Or are they not recalling imports?

Perhaps we're not import - ant  Rolling Eyes

Imports boy? Ruddy imports?  angry1

World would be a better place without them.

Everybody knows they are totally different from the "real" thing".

Trooper aren't imported of course..... Laughing

Bighorns use different metal in the body, lower grade steel in the engine, the wiring is only meant for candle power, the tyres are made from Liquorice Allsorts, and the chassis is spaghetti. Why on earth would they recall them?

They probably think they're all scrapped by now!!!  Wink

(By the way, for the benefit of any new members who might have a hissy fit reading this: I'm kidding, OK?)

aparantly the windows are less transparent and they set the tolerances on all the production machines looser especially for non UK models and then set them back again.

Sorry, I forgot about that...yes folks, it's true. That's what they do allright......  bounce

It must be right difficult though with all these different specifications for the"home" market coming down the same line as the "export" market. Must take a lot of vigilance to make sure the
shi te parts all go on the vehicles destined for the "home" market.... Rolling Eyes

Marky can tell you...the Pajero's come over here as "Pajero's" (no surprise there) and then get converted over here into Shoguns!

When I was a Pajero owner, you should have heard the urban myths tarted around by "real" Shogun owners. Talk about snobs! There was no way they would even park near you!  Confused

Hi guys,
I just sold my Trooper for a Bighorn, apart from the not so nice autobox, the rest of the vehicle is far better than my previous Trooper, rust wise... Even the rear bumper brackets are still soild! ahahhaha

So, can anyone advice if imports are subjected to this recall?? Any ideas on what chassiss or engine number batch has been affected by this safety recall??

Cheers,
Ray
