This is reallybugging me now had all checked out ,proper oil but still the last person in the car park with the 10-15 seconds of cranking her over to start! Surely theres a fix for this? bigger starter motor, heavier duty batteries? Getting the the pee taken out of me more and more about the "DUFF" car I,ve bought |

Ok - assuming you have a 3.0TD then this is the norm - as no diesel is injected until the oil pressure has been built up which takes a few cranks.
You could check your glow plugs I suppose (have you actually timed it to see if it really takes a long as you think ?) _________________ 3.0TD LWB Citation |

mines a 3.0 and takes on average about 3 seconds of turning over before it starts, when i bought it it seemed sluggish turning over but i put that down to the previous owner being old(explains why the clutch went putt at 34500) but a few good runs upto the red line (i know i shouldnt) and it goes a lot better and turns over quicker but still takes 3 seconds to fire up _________________ atb kevin

As the guys have already mentioned the 3.0 does need the oil pressure to be pumped up to a certain pressure before the injectors will fire.... but that said 10-15 seconds sounds like a long time!
On some of the earlier 3.0 motors there was a slight niggle with fuel draining back into the tank shen parked up... this can be cured by the dealers fitting a one way valve in the fuel line (or you can buy the kit from milners and fit yourself) _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

Was taking longer but garage found wrong oil! Just serviced before sale to me by an Isuzu dealer! Its a 2005 registered vehicle with only 14000 on the clock so shouldn't be a issue with being too old. My local dealer checked it out and lo and behold when i picked her up she started within a few cranks, but now seems to have laxed to a longer period( true might be exagerating in my mind as people walk by laughing at her cranking over!) But seems to me that there must be a more powerfull setup required to crank it over quicker to gain the oil pressure?
Meanwhile trying to convince work collegues that this is the design of the beast is getting harder every imbarising moment! |

:shock:OK sure I,m thick as two short planks but is there a part number or code for the non-return fuel line kit on Milners site? |

The hard start kit is inly needed if you have diesel draining back to the tank and causing it to crank over for long periods before starting. The 3.0 will take a few turns before firing due to the design of the injection system and this is nothing to worry about. _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

Just fitted 2 new batteries, slightly bigger than those fitted from new. Now takes hardly any time to start. Would recomend having the batteries checked if the car is slow to start. _________________ Isuzu Trooper SWB 3.0DT Commercial |
