Ended up going to Churchill, because Liverpool Victoria (who I'd insured my Mitsubishi Sigma estate and Mitsubishi Colt with, through What Car?), wouldn't touch my Bighorn with a bargepole...!

Just renewed with L&V, was looking else where but was getting the run-a-round.
L&V did state that they will renew your insurance on your import if your with them now, but will not be taking anyone new on _________________ Chris........... |

Liverpool Victoria are the third site I know that put blocking tactics into the software that just stops you moving on and forces you to telephone to be told that imports are not covered. At least Saga tell you straight away. There really needs to be a new sort of Ombudsman to handle this kind of timewasting rubbish put out by these people.
I've had my Bighorn for over 4 years and every time I have tried to get a range of quotations I have come up against these timewasting tactics. It's about time someone called a halt on them. |

|
|
If you don't EVER have ANY cause to claim LV are generally good value. Firstly if you insure more than one vehicle they discount both. If you do your home etc through them you get more discounts. Lastly they DO NOT take into account license points! I had 11 pts and they were not interested UNLESS you'd been banned. Also, having 'her indoors' on ploicy reduces price as does business use - WEIRD!
HOWEVER... if you need to claim re your car be aware. 1st you get a roller skate (corse fiesta etc) as a courtesy car NO UPGRADES (even for business use). They lie about conversations had with you, tell you documentation is sent when it isn't and generally blame every other person but themselves.
IF you need to claim it will cost YOU. Every number is an 0870 and every time you have to talk to someone you will have to start from scratch even though your complete history is supposed to be on the screen in front of them.
If I were cinical I'd suggest it was to rack up profits via the 0870 numbers... They forget to extend your car hire if you have one and are only availble for any decisions from 9-5 except on fridays if you car is written off when they *beep* off at 3:30 or so...
Speaking to the car hire people, they told me the most professional (slik, organised, on time and business like) organisation are the Royal Bank Of Scotland group (Direct line, saga, churchills etc). Of the smaller companies choose the NFU as it is a real person at your local branch that will sort things out for you. With both of these two, its more upfront but far less lost when it really matters...
Hope that helps someone

I don't yet have a bighorn, but I do have my current Toyota Celsior with them.
In the past I have had a lifted RangeRover on LPG, a ,modded saab 900 Turbo and 900 convertible and Celica GT4, a Rally spec Skoda Favorit and a tuned trackday Skoda 120L with them.
They have always been cheapest for me, except on a boring stock Skoda Octavia I had with them.
Even after having the Octavia elsewhere, when I came back with the LPG Rangie, and the the import Celsior, they were quite happy to insure me. |

my hubby works for bus company and has L&V as his union so asked them to quote me for my trooper. What a waste of a phone call, even with the discount they offered, they were still more expensive than the AA. |

Well I just paid £173 for my 3.1 Bighorn. Fully comp. me and wife to drive, parked on the road, no alarm, but with 75% no claims discount. never had any problems with them, but they wont touch the American Car! But 6 years ago they would not insure my Pajero either. _________________ 1992 Automatic 3.1 Bighorn

Asked for a quote on the Horizon and was told they were busy and would call back. 36 hours later and they haven't bothered, so my custom will be going elsewhere. Poor show. |

i would never ever touch them again was with them last year with my 99, 2.0 mondeo ghia x, i paid £349 Fully Comp when i sold the car and got a ford escort 1.4 they doubled the premium to £689 due to the escort being classed as a boy racers choice of car, once the policy was ready to be renewed, i told them i had found a better quote and was not doing business with them again and they refused to give me my proof of no claims, absolute rubbish |

Last year I had my P reg volvo 940 turbo hit whilst parked. I didn't have to fill out any paperwork. I was given a new Jaguar estate whilst
mine was being repaired. all sorted with no trauma. CO-OP insurance services. Renewed ths year, of course.
Changed to the MK 1 Trooper six monthes into the insurance year all sorted on the 'phone from outside the place I bought the Trooper and got £31 back.
No stress, no hassle, no junk mail. Call centres in the UK too. |
