Where in the stereo compartment do you find a descent earth? I put a new electric aerial in today and for some reason the stereo stopped working, So after taking the front of the dash out i noticed that the earth was not fastened to anything,, Could i h3ll as like find an earthing point Embarassed , so i just pushed the earth into the metal plate above the ashtray Embarassed .. Its all moulded plastic in there. For the moment it will work with my bodge job but if it goes again any idea's....

Dylan

Could you not just put a self taper into the metal bracket behind the ashtray - where you have just "stuck" the wire?

If you pull the carpets and soundproofing off the bulkhead you will sind several 6mm studs.  Some are used for holding the dash on, some are spare.  Thats what i used.  Scrape of some of the paint and use plenty of copperslip and that'll be fine for years.

Mr Banham

I take it you Have never had your stereo out then. I am not an  Imbecile. The question i asked was valid. There is no easy access to an earth.

Thankyou Webby for your constructive answer thats what i will go for if it comes off.. In the back of my stereo casing there are two holes for wires about 15mil square that are already packed with wires and with me having chunky fingers it makes it awkward so my original question was i suppose looking for an easy fix..

Why have you taken offence?

I never said you were an imbecile - just offered a suggestion to you problem - had my stereo out numberous occaisions - I took out the storage container under the stereo to get easier access.

My answer was perfectly valid

gee you offer a suggestion and you get it shoved down your throat  Shocked

My understanding of your post might have been misguided Tim,, Using my name in a simple answer to a post and the "stuck" suggests to me you thought it was a bit of an effort to reply to such an unworthy post, If i got it wrong i apologise however i at no time mentioned you being nasty in your answer to this or any other post you have made, I am sorry if my vocabulary made you think your post was nasty i assure you it was not my intention.

That would have been  more of a valid answer in your first post(even though under my stereo is the blower system)

I again apologise if i have made you feel anything but helpfull in your posts.

Dylan

Dylan

Lets call it both getting out of the wrong side of bed :

I put your name on it because I met you at the greenlaning event in wales and hence thought it would be more personal

The short answer was to give you a rapid response to your post

I didn't mention the space under the stereo as I know there are differences between the models and didn't know if your dash was the same as mine

No offence meant - (and I agree Webby's is a much better suggestion) Smile
