Hi guys,
Well I got handed this by the boss man today. In there prime they were state of the art in NZ schools. This particular example was used by admin staff only - not the kids apparently. While on the subject, one of the classes I teach in still has 2 Acorn desktops from around 1992 to 1993! Used on a daily basis, thrashed by god only knows how many kids, the machines just will not die!
This A4 version is stamped with "Designed and Manufactured in Europe, Cambridge, England, 1992.
On the hunt for the power supply which is in amongst a whole pile of vintage compos.
Who needs windows when you can poke and peek all night long ??
Anyone remember that futuristic game on the BBC b - "ELITE", where you started with a basic spaceship, and gradually increased your armoury and your bank account. You could become a goody or a pirate depending on which planets you visited etc.. etc..
Sorry, just getting a tad nostalgic _________________

lol, I thought it might strike a chord with you guys
Planning on hunting through the cupboard today to find the power supply / charger for the beast. Not even sure if it works yet - has been sitting in a cupboard since last millenium!
I'll post a couple of pics if I can fire it up _________________ 1996 Mazda B2500

Probably not a good comment on Hamilton, and might expose us to comments from jaffas, but I've still got a Sega at home complete with its expansion RAM and disk drive unit - it used an odd sized floppy that was (iirc) slightly larger than the 3.5 inch we all came to love so much.
I guess we've got to do something to occupy the wet weekends.

lol, especially with the "counrty's largest 'P' house" being based in Hams we need all the credit we can get.
What I'm about to say won't help, I know what you mean about those huge floppy disks! We've still got a bunch of them here somewhere - no machine to use them though.
Funny you should mention Sega! I found our old console (Master System II) which hasn't been used since 1995 or something. Still in 100% mint condition and runs the same as it did fresh from the box. _________________ 1996 Mazda B2500

LOL, i use to run a Computer repair and build shop in Hereford city center and i believe i still have loads and loads of chips and eproms for that type of machine,, hell as well as a PC i still have my trusty old Amiga1200 (with a 16mb Blizzard fast ram card). Its cool to get into pcs with it because AmiDOS can read the windows programs but the pc does not even know its there, hence you can diagnose quicker than normal diagnostics
