In light of the recent biblical weather I am toying with the idea of fitting a snorkel to the new 3.1 as I intend keeping it for a good few years.  I know Si and Mr Twister have em, are they both safar snorkels, if so where did you get them from and how much were they?    I take it you have to take a holesaw to the wing to mount it.  I've found this place that looks a little cheaper than Safari snorkels.

Mine's a Safari, and it cost about £250, and yes it did involve drilling a rather large hole in the wing. One of the most cringeworthy things I have ever had to do  Shocked .

TJM also do a snorkel for the Trooper, and as of a couple of months ago they now have a UK distributor; Typical, after I paid to import my winch bar  Rolling Eyes .

TJMproducts.co.uk

Oh, and if you do decide to fit one, I've got the correct hole saw for the job  Wink .

Philp, the Airflow snorkels that feature on the link you posted have a reputation for not being in the same league as the Safari ones but they're also cheaper. A major gripe seems to be with their instructions & templates, very much a question of measure twice cut once & check their measurements against the snorkel. I also tend to think their screen pillar bracket looks cheap, sort off on size fits all kind of thing. Having said that, once guys have got around the pitfalls of fitting them, they seem to be happy enough with them & they seem to do what it says on the box OK. The couple I've seen looked OK I thought. For their price they're worth considering.
Steve.

If you goto safari snorkels website they list the Troopers on there,I found if you are clever or know some one who is you could get them to make you 1, also found diagrams for said snorkels, this one is for the 3.2 V6

Philip,

The website mentioned is my website. Should you be interested we will this month be sending a shipment to UK and retailing these via the internet. At present the individual airfreight for a snorkel is approx AUD$160.00 to UK which kills most prospective sales. We will be sending a shipment by sea. The selling price for our snorkels in UK will be higher due to freight & import costs but the UK delivery cost we are anticipating to be about 15 pounds which will reduce the overall cost.

The comments re the instructions have been taken onboard and a major project at present for the factory is to get one of each vehicle, fit the snorkel and take a full set of photos and rework the instructions, the photos will be included. Currently 20 vehicles have been done.

Regards

Alan Howard
