Hi,

My Bighorn (3.1 TDi, AT), when i switch on the engine, the check lights switch on as normally
and they do not switch off until i raise the engine rpms to almost 3,500.
Also i noticed that if i the air con is switched on before the 3,500 rpms, it does not start to work until it reaches 3,500 rpms.

Is this normal?

Chris

Not normal at that rpm no, but from cold there will have to be some rpm's before everything kicks in probably around 600-750.  It may be to do with the altenator charge relay.  Confused

Something amiss methinks, that's a lot of revs, don't often have to take mine that high.

Thnx guys!

I passed from my garage...
They checked it and said that is indeed the alternator charge...
it outputs 2 - 3 Volts less than normal (on idle is 10+V instead of 12+V)... But no worries he said... just drive it till it breaks!!!
Then u will put a new one!!!

P.S.: I wrote wrong rpms... its near 2,500...
