Anyone know how big the cooler is in the BigHorn radiator.
Whilst its all out I'm thinking of fitting a manual rad without a cooler, and a separate cooler.
I've got some heavy towing on the Horizon and maybe a trip to North Africa sometime.

It seems to be the conventional wisdom to leave the standard in-rad cooler IN and put an external one in series with it governed by a t-stat. The problem with just an external cooler might be that you might overcool it. The O/D and tq lock-up are controlled by a temperature sensor which might be one of those that bolt to the stat on top of the motor so it might work off water temp not ATF temp which is a little odd when you think about it. Mine works when the water temp gauge is in a certain position and is very consistent, so it might just be water temp which, to be honest, means that you could easily replace the in-rad cooler by getting a new rad (Trooper) without one and just running your new external cooler.

In that scenario, I wouldn't see the need for a cooler t-stat either.....
