|
|
Hi all
Newbie to the group.
I recently brought a '93 Big Horn (Irmscher) 3.1 TD.
It had been SORN as from Mar '07 and so had been sat around all summer. I fired it up last night and there was a fair bit of white smoke on start up. I waited a few minutes fired it up again and there was no white smoke just soot.
The turbo has recently been replaced.
Anyone else experienced this and is it something to be concerned about.
60k miles, recent oil and filters and MOT. |

First of all Welcome
If its been stood i wouldnt worry about it, it sounds like it needs a good run to give it a clear out and if that doesnt work check the heater plugs. _________________ |

Thankyou!
It's so fustrating as I cant drive her at the moment (waiting for insurance cover note to go and tax it). It's been sat on my drive teasing me for 2 days.
Cant wait to give her a good blast.
I'll keep a close eye on the starting issue. Thanks for the advice. |

Give it a shot of injector cleaner before you take it out, that should clean it out as they get choked up when they are locked up and not allowed out to play
I talk to mine but thats between me and the doctors _________________ |

It can be worth banging a load in the fuel filter when you change it. |

Our 3.1 did the same thing. Had been stood at the dealers for a while, and belched a big cloud of pale grey smoke on starting for the first time when we test drove it.
No smoke at all since |

I gave it blast out last night and this morning and the whitish smoke has all but disapeared.
I will definetly used some injector cleaner, however. |

FYI
Some Wynns injector cleaner (£3.99 from Wilko) has sorted out the white smoke problem. Also now starts much crisper.
Gotta be worth £3.99 of anyones money |
