We have a Neopolitan Mastiff girl, called Roma, 13stone of slobber manufacturing facility disguised as a dog! Laughing

She is getting on now, at 9 and a bit, but still is strong as an ox when she wants to be.

When she was younger she used to grab hold of a tow rope on my 90 or Landcruiser and drag it, handbrake off, across a field.
Favourite toys used to be 4x4 tyres thrown into 5 ft of water, she swims down and picks them up, growling underwater at them, well gargling.

Gentle giant to family and friends but very protective and a great housedog.
Has a woof that would deter any would be intruder, and can look over a 6ft fence!

Skin doesnt really fit, in fact its amazing she finds all the leg holes in the mornings.
And she snores...I mean proper snores! Even neighbours have commented!

Still loves swimming (we live 100yds from the sea), which is great exercise for her, at 9 her back legs are still good and she has no heart issues which are commonplace with the giant breeds. So all good.

Take her out shooting sometimes, she will retrieve when she feels like it, but is much much better at beating!

Will add some pics to the thread when my post count allows Wink

i have a choc Lab called Mylo who is totaly devoted to me and i to him from the day i picked him up from a rescue centre half druged out of his head to hide his ailments.

he is a fabulous large dog, not fat but at his largest weight he tipped the scales at 54kg, then when running he snapped his cruciate ligament and had to be sent to a specialist Ortho vet for £2.500 surg and told the other leg will prob go lol. 9 he is now down to 45kg abfter just halfing his feed as he cant exercise much with his leg problems.

he then had a skin condition and was Ref to another dermatologyst vets who did tests (as he was eating his feet) and found he is allergic to ..... wait for it,  GRASS , pollen, dust, and just about anything else a dog normaly comes into contact with,

but the vet was fab, and started him on a new treatment where he is injected once per month on a made up vaxine containing the things he is allergic to and he is not cured but he is a completley new dog, and after the 1st 2 injections the vet allows us to give the injections at home, me being medical and all lol.

but again that all came at a cost...

so now you know why a one year old Choc Lab was given to a rescue centre,

i am not a rich man but will happily spend the money on my dog (well not happily but he is worth every penny) not sure i would do that for the Wife lol Razz  Razz  Razz

Our English Bull Terrier  is alergic to the same things as your lab. We found out by the same route as you. Once we knew what it was we we atrted to find out a bit more and  just started to give her "antihistimines" hay fever tablets with her food (she eats anything so no problem getting them down.)
May be worth a try. A chat with your vet perhaps.
