We got 3 American Bulldogs and I (Ian) spend hours every day keeping them active, fit and happy...

We also partake in weight-pull, simulated lure racing, long jump and other stuff with them...

Next year hoping to get out in the fields to see if they can catch their own dinner Wink

I've got a 3 year old Toller (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) whose main task is to encourage me to walk since my specialist told me I had to walk 3 miles a day. (That's a big deal for a man who always used to reckon that if you couldn't drive to a place then there was no point in going!)

Lovely natured intelligent dog who does almost make endless circular treks fun......

My wife has shown him once just for the fun of having done it and he got a 3rd, which was cool, but it wasn't that much fun so we probably won't do that again.

She does Agility training with him though which they both seem to enjoy.

I have a Japanese Akita *beep* and a black labrador *beep*.  Unfortunately only have time to take them (or is that they take me) on long walks as have a 2.5 yr old son and one that is 4 weeks old!

Wish I could have the time as the akita came from Crufts winning stock and the lab has a breeding history full of field champions in it - but alas I never had the time and it also appears as if I have one of the few gun dogs afraid of loud bangs!

Our first American Bulldog came from up near you (Dry Doddington), lovely part of the country..

Ours used to be a little noise affected but we kept subjecting them to all sorts of noise and they are pretty good now.
I may be (proverbially) teaching my grandmother to suck egss but, if the dog is frightened by anything, it's best to ignore the behaviour.
Reward it (with a treat or making a fuss of it) when it ignores the noise (or whatever)....

Forum's not allowing me to post pics yet, itching to get some up of the dogs 'doing their thang' Wink

They are fine looking dogs you got there Very Happy . Excuse my lack of knowledge but whats the difference between an amerian bulldog and a pitbull? If i were to hazzard a guess i would think the pitbull was crossbred between the bulldog and some kind of hunting terrier, (i'm probably way out Laughing )

Nice dogs.

How much weight do they pull on the weight pull?

Not sure I'll post any pics of my dogs as I think the only ones I have are them being spoilt!
