Thanks for sorting that one out, I suppose it kind of makes sense that way. Idea  Idea !

No more of the, thanks for giving way, and to show gratitude I'm going to blind you with a flash of all the lights!

It was bad enough trying to pass some old biddy on single track who could not work out that if I can't see because her lights are on full beam, I can't get passed. She couldn't drive and I was there for ages, until I just had to guess where the passing place was and go anyway! It would have been a lot worse with spot lights!

Found this today and though it might be useful...

Am i right in thinking the live feed to the switch would come from the live to the high beam? and if i put 4 spots on, After wiring one do i just link the other 3 off it?
And finally 2 of them are angel eye spots does anyone know of any laws against these kind of spots and would i need any kind of relay for the side light on them or just straight wired off the cars sidelights..

Thanks in advance

Dylan.

Hey up mate,

I've just burnt a relay out running 2 spots, so for the price I'd recomment running a relay per spot - the earth being ground, the live being a fused thick cablem, the trigger comming from the headlights, and the feed to the lights one at a time...

only from what i've experienced though...

Thats fine... all you need to do is divide the total wattage (55W x4 = 220W) by the voltage (12V system on cars) and you end up with 18.34 Anmps current draw. As a direct result a 30A relay is fine... but you will need 2.5mm CSA cable.

Most likely I cooked the cable then - was running 110 on a 30 amp with cable lying around  Embarassed  just blows fuses every time I try them - really need to have a look when I've got 5 mins...

So we are saying one 2.5 - 3mm cable running from a 30 - 40 amp relay will power 4 spots with no problems? And also where have people run that cable from the roof. What i mean is to get it to the roof from under the bonnet.

Magic!  I had been wondering how I was going to route the cables for mine without taking a drill to the roof  Shocked
