I had the same issue with my MK1, its because when you have sidelights on it sends a lower voltage to the main beam lights so they illuminate (its called Dim/Dip) but it's enough voltage to trigger the relay. Its a PITA and I couldn't find a way around it. TBH though as I never drive with just sidelights on it wasn't really an issue for me, I also had an internal switch so that tended to be left in the off position unless I needed the lights. My 3.1 for some reason must use a different wire to flash the lights as my spots don't light up when you flash, just with main beam. _________________ Phil

hi phil it all sounds very strange and the spots on my 3.1 actually flash as well. maybe though as my spots are the angeleye type with led's round the edge that wire to the side lights, that this is where the feed back is from
thanks for reply phil |

Well just wired them up, Phil mine don't flash as the main beam is going off they just blink but they will flash when beam is going on, The flash on the trooper is off/on regardless whether lights on or not(I think that made sense ) Other than that they're great, Got another two angel eye's coming this week so will have all four up and running then, wiring is ready for them. _________________

what if you have 87a and 87b on the same relay, does this mean that i can run 2 sets of spots off 1 switch and also do you run a live to the switch and then to the relay because i want the 4 spots on the roof to come on together,
ive got 2 relays and 1 says 2x20amp and the other says 40/35amp, which would be the best for 4 x55w _________________ atb kevin

Glad i've been reading this thread as roof lights are the next job and i'm no electrician
Am i right in saying that the LED bit of the angel eye needs to be fed from a side light to come on with side lights and the main bit lights up on high beam.
Cant wait to get them on look well on your trucks. _________________

Also is there two wires coming out of the spot, 1 for sides and 1 for main bit and also an earth wire. _________________

yes you are right, one live will probably be thinner than the other and obviously the thinnest are side lights _________________

Thanks Dylan, so would the side light connection require a separate relay???? _________________

I didn't bother and never had a problem with them i dont think there is enough of a draw to harm anything. If i am wrong someone will let you know. _________________

If they are LED probably OK, but if they are normal incadescent lams and you add a trailer you could be pushng it a bit. _________________ LotusTower - '93 Lotus Bighorn |

If they are angels they are led's and that was the reasoning behind my not adding a relay as said though if not led you might have to re-think. _________________

LED's draw so little current its not worth bothering with a relay, ...until you get to the amount i've got on my wagon _________________
