Hi Guys

I have a Bighorn 3.1TD from '98 (a 4JG2 type).  Recently the heater stopped working, then briefly came back to life for a day or two and has now finally died.  Aircon works, fan works, all controls operate and cold air comes through.  Water levels are fine in the radiator system.

I can't see any gubbins/heat exhanger for a traditional heater system.  I keep reading about these ceramic heaters - does this mean that hot air is provided by one of these or have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick?  is this a 'little blue relay' problem??

Any ideas where to start fault finding...it's been pretty miserable the last week or so.

many thanks

Fergus

The ceramic heater only provides heat until the engine reaches normal operating temperature.  After that a normal heater matrix plumbed into the coolant system takes over.  I'd suspect the control being duff in some repsect.  These days everything seems to be servo operated so I'd guess somewhere theres a little motor that opens a flap to let air through the heater.

I have a similar problem with my '93 plate 3.1 , only get luke warm air flow even when the engine's hot. I put it down to too much leak sealant clogging the matrix before finally getting radiator swapped. I haven't got round to flushing it yet but will see if this works. Any chance this might part of your problem or have have you found another fix yet?
