Do manual trooper rads come with the auto cooler in as all the ones on eebuygum seem to be for both manual/auto? Are there different rads for manual versus auto? If so does it matter if I stick an auto rad on a manual and just don't use the cooler?

no, manual rads don't have the cooler bit built in but i don't see any reason why you can't use an auto rad in a manual

Hmmm, I'd like to keep it standard if I can and I guess the in rad cooler takes up some of the capacity so I might have to go for something a bit more expensive but right. Northern Radiators has the correct manual item for £128 + vat so still cheaper than Milners and only a couple of quid more than getting it recored. I've used them before for my MK1 fuel tank and they seem to know what they're doing, they're leeds based but have a few branches around and specialise in a/c condensors, rads and fuel tanks.

Oh and I got the torch out and had a proper shufti at the back of the rad, its much worse than I first thought, I'm surprised its kept it cool at all looking at the state of it. There's bare tubes all over the place with no fins and the corroded areas look solid further into the rad where the fins have crumbled into a solid block I'll snap some pics when its out but it definitely has to go and soon before the damn thing overheats and cooks the engine.

My new rad arrived today, only ordered it yesterday afternoon, nice and shiny black. Probably fit it next weekend if its dry as I'm down to Reading to see my mum this weekend. Gonna have a bash at the cam belt at the same time.

milners, £125 including vat and dell for auto one

Not according to their website, milners want £150+vat and carriage for a 3.1 manual unit, this cost me £128 + vat/carriage.

yup i see that on the web sight too but it is wrong. the prices have just dropped, i ordered my on today on the old card and he recond it would be with me tomorrow. £100 plus vat(117.50) plus delivery £9 so £ 126.50.

Bum! Its about time they got their act together and kept their website up to date, it ain't difficult after all. I noticed that they do have a sign up saying new website coming soon so maybe it'll be connected iinto their parts pricing database so its live data.

Replaced my rad today, went very well, the hardest thing was getting the steering guard back on as the mounts wouldn't line up until I adjusted them with the aid of my medium sized manchester spanner. The old one is well and truly goosed, I'll take some pics tomorrow, theres a line about three or four inches high across the bottom where the fins are just non existent and another two patches right in the middle where the fan pulls most of the air through. I flushed the engine through and filled it all back up with a nice 50:50 mix of long life coolant and a new thermostat. I just need to take it out for a thrash to get any air out but after running it at a fast idle for about half an hour it was sat nicely just under halfway, lots of hot air through the heater. I'm gonna hang on to the old rad for a while so I can sort out an electric fan conversion on it so I'll just be able to drop it in to the car once I've sorted out the mounts etc on the old one. I'm going to get the timing belt done by a garage as I just don't have the time to do it at the moment. I was delayed starting this till the afternoon as we had someone come to view our house this morning so we had some serious tidying to do beforehand!

I bought a new rad from serek marsden in preston. Think it was about 90 quid with the vat.
It happened to be an auto rad when it came (only 2 days), they delivered to my work place also.
All I had to do was link the outlets for the gearbox cooling system together, sorted. It was also
a rad for hot climates so has larger cores. Hope this helps.

personally i just changed my radiator but that wasnt due to mechanical problem,just they arent seagull resistant(but thats another story) got one from d&g in buxton delivered for £47 it was used but in A1 condition
