Hi, now thwe cold mornings have started coming in, i've found it very difficult to start my troop. its a 98 3.0td, I have changed the glow plugs and i still have the same problem. It turns over for a long time before it will start. usually to the point the battery goes flat. Is it possible that i could be drawing air into the fuel system somehow?

Once she has started i dont have any trouble starting again that day, I only find it difficult to start after she is left overnight?

and yes... i'm using the correct oil

Can anyone help??? Sad

I'd say thats a distinct possibility, that fuel is draining back into the tank overnight.  Try nipping up the fuel filterand check all the hose clips.

yep first port of call would be to fit the non return valve in the fuel return line then if it still does it bypass the filter housing for a night and see if it starts any better the next day.

does it give out whiteish smoke when it does fire up?

it comes off the very back of the head on the passenger side, it's a single rubber pipe coming out from underneath the manifold normally held in place with a white pinch type clip

Right.... Firstly before leaving the car last night i bypassed the filter housing by joining the two hoses together. This morning still the same problems. I've also found out this morning, that the glow plugs i fitted were shorting out to the cyl head, (fuse was blown) Idea I've stopped them shorting out and replaced the fuse, just have to wait until tomorrow now to see if she starts (fingers crossed)

I also got in touch with Fiskens of Forfar (my nearest Isuzu dealer) and found out that all the recalls have been done on my motor. That has given me some peace of mind.

I'll keep you all posted how i get on tomorrow.
