Dropped in on Chris this morning as he offered to fit a pinion seal for me, so thanks Chris (dxmedia) Very Happy

Was greeted to a what at first appeared to be a spectacular sunrise, but it turned he had left the garage open with his wellies in full view Shocked

After the tinkering we headed down stanage edge then back up Shocked with much planning, cross axles and low flying waffle boards we both got up Twisted Evil
I got well stuck but got up in the end and Chris in his fronty got with a slightly wavy chassis cross member Laughing

Having worked out the line I would do it again with a bit more lift and preferably some taller tyres (LSD would be a big help too). For those who don't know stanage is allot harder than it was earlier in the year due to heavy water erosion. Do NOT try to go up a stock hight truck or on your own.

Chris will hopefully be along with some pics Wink

It was cold... very cold

There was landrovers with winches and lifts which needed recovering...

BUT

Stanage was taken on without spotters (drivers picking own routes  Shocked )

Then we had a look, and DID IT Very HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery Happy

NO LSD's, NO lockers, NO - err scratch that one Wink - damage

Two IFS cars straightish up the side of stanage edge.

The not mentioned damage - LWB MK1 trooper (Matskii) Scratched rear spring hangers, and a nicely filed transfer case. SWB MK1 Frontera (now known as the landrover saver Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy) twisted centre cross member  Shocked  Shocked  Laughing  Laughing

But, we came, we saw, we turned round, and we made some sparks Very HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery Happy

You've cocked a front leggy a little Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

As Matt's said, DON'T try this in a stock trooper (or any 4x4 bar unimog), you will get stuck and you will cause more damage than we did. Get a lift, get some tyres, go have some fun though Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

Some good pics there chaps!
Nice to see you looking after the landrover brigade Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

We recovered a 4x4 Wrangler when we were up there a while ago, we then took our Fronteras, a stock Landcruiser and a stock Niva Cossak up Stanage Edge HERE

Its great rescuing those that think your trucks wont make it aint it!

Cheers

Mark
