Ok - just bought my first ever Isuzu Rodeo complete with Prodrive Performance Pack. I see a small sticker inside the vehicle telling me I need to inform my insurers about this - does this mean my premiums will rocket Confused   It's hardly a racing car so I don't see why I need to tell them....

Yes you do need to tell them otherwise it is not different to buying a higher spec vehicle and insuring a lower spec one.

Doesn't mean it will cause premiums to rocket tho

Just tell them it is a dealer fitted component and I doubt you will have any problems Smile

Is it an add on (ie Rodeo Denver) or standard fit (ie Rodeo Denver MAX LE)? The unit on mine is a standard item on the Denver MAX LE so there shouldnt be a need to inform the insurer...

I believe it's an add-on - it's a second hand vehicle and although it was sold as a Denver Max LE I suspect it started out as a Denver Max and then had all the bits added on. I found an order form inside the glove box which was for the Prodrive kit....

Actually - just done a bit or research - it must be an LE as it has all the 'goodies' that the LE should have - leather trim, 3.0l engine, hardtop etc. Still think the Prodrive was an add-on hence the sticker telling me to inform the insurer....

If it is an LE the insurer will know from this the engine power and insure accordingly. I had the prodrive added to my denver and the premium went up 80quid. I did find getting insurance in the first place difficult as at the time was not using it for a trade I could not get commercial insurance and car insurers willing to insure the pickup were few and far between. I eventually got Privilege to insure me at a reasonable price. As I have now got a trade as a farmer I have managed to get it added to my farm insurance, they were not interested in the fact it had an engine management upgrade as they said it is only a pickup.

Hi revor, I had a similar problem with getting insurance when I had my first mitsi BUT found the NFU to be really helpful and I have insured with them ever since and have all my farm insurance with them. I do not run my farm as a business but this doesn't seem to matter. I have told them about the Prodrive and have heard nothing more from them so am hoping that there will be no more to pay.....

Next time your insurance is up try the CLA. It costs to join but even with the membership fee I saved over NFU who also wanted me to have individual policies for prctically everything.
