The bracket that holds the spare wheel is getting a bit tatty looking and rusting so I wanted to take it off and re spray it, does anyone know if I take the bolts off that hold it in place will I lose the nuts inside the rear door card or are they fixed?

Captive nuts. I took mine off the other day, and put the bolts back in.
