So you have never driven a 6V Pop or Beetle, these were only one step up from candles, on dip and main. My Bighorn must already have something different in as they are brilliant. _________________ LotusTower - '93 Lotus Bighorn |

My father had a Ford Anglia which had lights that dimmed when the wipers or heater were used. On one foggy night somewhere in Yorkshire he made my mother walk in front of the car with a torch as it was brighter than the car lights. That was 40ish years ago. Have times changed??? _________________ Flashman

My first Alfasud did that, the lights pulsed in time with the wipers if you had the heater on as well and the alternator light on the dash made pretty paterns, the Italians have always had a problem with car electrics it seems! _________________ Phil

Would agree with Alwin/Philip - replaced stock Philips on my 2002 LWB with Osram Silverstars (+50%) - definitely better kerb-definition, but not 'that' much better distance-wise (to me). Tried similar on previous '98 - no different - reckon it's down to poor (by modern standards) lens-design. Once had a Ka-Ka loan-car (jeez-bright). Going for bullbars+spots instead - bullbars for the assorted sheep/deer I need to dodge every am. up here ! Anyone know what current legislation is on fitting wraparounds?

Used them for a couple of weeks I wasn't convinced by their performance especially on dipped beam so then I changed back to standard bulbs with a lower colour tempature rating and was much happier. The advice would be don't buy them.
But I wish I had a solution to get a better brighter dipped beam pattern. _________________ 1998 Isuzu Trooper 3.1DTi SWB Commercial

I like my ring ones, made a difference to the crispness and light output most definiteley. The only way to really upgrade them would be to sling a couple of relays in the circuit and use a higher wattage bulb. _________________ Phil

Just fitted the Philips Vision plus ones, while not 50% brighter they are a lot better with a whiter light rather than the dim yellow I had before and a bit more distance _________________ 3.1 Duty - horse trailer puller & fun in the mud |
