According to my owner's manual the "preferred viscosity grade" is SAE 10W-30.
But, if you're sticking to European driving, and there's less chance of extremely high or low temperatures you can use 10W-40 or 15W-40 without any problems. |

Ta I used 10w40 Deisel oil and a blue print filter in the end it's a bit tight to get the filter out though the only way to do it was to spin the front prop shaft and it jumped the filter past the prop cv joint _________________ LWB duty mk4 3.0 BFG ATs and cb radio |

I allways used 15/40 in my 3.1 as the 10/30 is only good up to 30c max and they aint new engines _________________ |

Only in the fact that its an old engine and it may last a bit longer. _________________ |

The benifit of a 15w/40 over 10w/40 is that it will sheer down less so last a bit longer.
I use Fuchs Titan Truck Plus 15w/40 and I get it in 20L bottles for £45 deliverd. |
