Being all efficient at the moment (don't worry it'll wear off pretty soon) I thought I'd change the fuel filter in the tank (3.0 '98 Citation with indecisive 4wd). Got the filter from partco, took old filter off, tried to fit new filter but when its screwed up it runs out of thread with the seal about 3mm short of the pump face.

Is this
A: the wrong filter
or
B: am I missing something blindingly obvious?

the instructions to do it up by hand and then tighten but should the filter seal be up against the pump face just with hand tightening?

cheers guys
Dave

Yep , there is no filter in the tank for 3.0 so I rekon they gave you a 3.1 filter - you are doing the filter under the hand primer pump ?

Thats was the plan and that was the filter I asked for.... are there different versions of hand primer? the filter thread matches but it runs out of thread b4 the filter seal meets the underside of the primer casing.
