After struggling with a Passat for towing, i'm picking up my '99 3.0 TD Trooper this Friday hopefully - It's having all the necessary recall work done first ( new turbo, something to do with the injectors and ceramic heater ) FOC - this will take two days apparently.

Anyway, I will need to add a 12S grey socket to the existing towbar. I have spent ages searching for a wiring diagram, but the only one that I have come across is password protected on the Towequipe website.

Has anyone here got this or a similar diagram?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Fitting Instructions for all 12S Kits and Relays

General Instructions for Wiring 12S Socket to Vehicle (12 Volt Negative Earth)

Wire the socket as shown in Chart ‘B’

Take the Grey 7-core cable into the boot through a 9/16" hole into which you have inserted the grommet provided. Connect the wires of the 7-core cable into the vehicle circuits as shown in Chart ‘B’, being careful to use suitable gauge cables for any extensions. Some auxiliary circuits in caravans draw a lot of power so be careful to choose suitable sources in the vehicle and protect your circuits with fuses. Our 12S Kits contain suitable cable and fuses.

* On caravans post 1996 this feed is automatically switched during towing by a relay in the caravan to charge the caravan battery. When this happens, other interior circuits are off (except fridge).

If you donr want to drill a hole - there is a route through into the cavity below the jack storage compartment. Its a bit tricky to find so easiet way is remove the jack and surrounding panel then shine a torch into the cavity - crawl underneath and you should just see the beam.
