I meant the 3:1 ratio transfer gears from Independant 4x4, see here

I know Auto's don't have as low gearing as the Manuals, has anyone fitted the 3:1 transfer case gears?

I prefer the slip you get in an auto and plus you get a torque multiplier effect but down hill the Rangie runs away as it has 32" tires on it.

The Trooper is very controlable and the torque from the diesel is really suited for offroad.

They both have the same transfer ratios
1-1 in high
2.283-1 in low
but
gearbox is another matter
Auto 1st is 2.856-1
Manual 1st is 3.767-1

My question now is how fast would a 3.2 manual be  Shocked

Thanks for all the tips shared!
I have a 3.2 V6 Manual, UBS Japanese, I have tried her mostly in sand dunes, on climb you have always plenty of power, but the difficult thing is to guess the correct gear to avoid clutching in the changing slope...
my guess is gain speed in 2nd L rapid shift to 3rd L. Petrol ones have torque up revs, so you get over revs at start and almost stall at the top off the dune... plus the fact you must stop smoothly to avoid hung in the crest. The use of the brakes are avoided in sand descending. 1st gear in low and no pedals do the job. at the end a touch of the throttle to speed up and gain control!

Cheers and Happy offroading!
