|
|
Hello to you all. Excellent site with very knowledgable members. Hope you can help me on this one. Im a motor trader\mechanic and have just bought a 2000 trooper 3.0td from a main dealer as a non runner. They told me it needed a diesel pump and that it would run on a scavenger pump but not without, the techy said if it was his, he would install an electric pump and use as it is. I didn't think that was a good idea as thought this would have an adverse affect on the injector seals. When i got it home, i fitted new batteries, primed the hand pump and noticed diesel and bubbles leaking from the bleed screw on the housing. I fitted a new bolt and copper washer, re primed and bled, then attempted to start. After a while of cranking, the dreaded white smoke emerged and eventually she burst into life. The problem is, it sounds like a tractor (or an old nissan nevara!) with lots of diesel rattle when reved from idle to 2500+ revs. Its also hard to start from cold and idles poorly at times, but doesn't smoke once hot. Ive tried all the usual stuff and had the sump off etc, new injector seals and the old white wire with no success. Any idea's? |

are they prone to injectors? this has had the mod work done. ive just removed the orcv and it appears someone has been there before, but they've unscrewed it via mole grips on the tube. this has caused the tube to be squashed. ive taken the valve apart and there is a little piston that slides up and down the tube obviously operated by the solenoid magnetically. i don't fully understand the operation, but if its stuck allowing enough pressure to the rail to eventually start and run, would this cause the diesel clatter and poor cold starting? it starts ok'ish when hot. am i right in thinking it might be stuck in the max pressure position to cause this or am i barking up the wrong tree? many thanks. |
