just bought a 3.0 turbo w trooper its got a problem the turbo has gone i think it struggles to start and when it does covers the street in white smoke !!!.it had a loud knocking when i got it but my mate said that will because its running on its own oil then i turned it off and it carried on running !!!i had to block the intake to stop it i have disconnected the turbo to see if i can see if the engine stops knocking witch it seems to be getting better but there is still loads of white smoke . the question is its it known to these engines for piston rings to go ? and what would i notice if they did im doing some inlet cleaning tomorrow any help is appreciated thanks

Sounds like injector sleeve issues to me. Phone your local Isuzu dealer with the VIN and ask about the free injector replacement recall work.
