A friend of mine has a 51 plate ford galaxy with a tiptronic auto box, Lately it wont select reverse gear, Has anyone got any ideas regarding a fix or if they can be diagnosed with software?

OBDII job, or he could try taking the battery off for  a while, I know the misti tiptronics have a problem as they remember things and forget others until reset.

It could be a sealed for life, they have a fill plug like a manual box rather than a dipstick and the ECU may need reseting after any fault.
