Hi all,
I've just replaced a dual mass flywheel and clutch on a w reg 30lt td trooper. Car was running fine before and started with no problems. However come to start it up today and no go, engine turns over but just will not fire. Been reading this cracking site to find inspiration but with no joy. People keep saying about this White wire tricK?? could anybody explain that and also the orps keeps coming up but I'm not convinced its related to these problems. I think it's probably the crank sensor playing up but not really sure, I d have fuel at the filter and it does go on easy start. Also the car is jacked up in the air pretty high at the front I'd say around 2 feet.

Any help would be great.

Also what a really good well put together site this is

My guess is you didnt time up the flywheel when you fitted it, it only goes on one way and in the other 5? it wont start.

Time up the flywheel?? Sorry being a little stupid, I swapped the pick up for the sensor and all the bolts that holds the flywheel to the crank all line up, not eccentric, how would you time up the flywheel.

The flywheel will fit in 6 positions, only one is correct, I'm sure one of the others will give full details but its about the engine being at 1 TDC and a half moon cutout in the flywheel being in a certain position.

True enough, so is there any marks in the webbing of the housing for the flywheel like timing marks ??

put the crank on tdc, if your lucky it will have an enlarged hole where the flywheel bolts to and this needs to be at the 12 o clock position, if it hasn't then you have to find that stupidly small notch on the front pulley!
when your happy it's at tdc look for a half moon cut out on the transmission side of the ring gear on the flywheel this needs to go to the 6 o clock position which should then put the gap in the timing ring on the back of the flywheel at the 1 o clock/2 o clock position.
and thats it really crank at 12 flywheel at 6 and it will start
