It's not working for me!!!

are the headlamps negative switched?

If its a 3.1 you can use the Yellow with red dots wire that goes to the headlamp its self

If its a 2.8 they have a small voltage that goes to the main when the side lights are on, so it needs to be switchable inside the car or else you'll blind everyone when you think there are only sidelights on Shocked

any question let me know

Andy

I know this happened on my 2.8 but not on the 3.1
do the headlights come on dim when the side lights are on Question

here is how I wired the relay, (brought from Halfords)
30 goes to the battery via an inline fuse
85 goes to an earth point (I used the screw that holds on the relay)
86 goes to the switch inside the car and then back from the switch
to the yellow wire with red dots at the back of the headlamp( this
is the main beam on mine (R reg 3.1 duty)
87 goes to the +ve on the spotlights.

hope this helps

Do the spots come on with the dipp or just the side lights on a 2.8?

I am just about to wire some on to mine so would be interested to know.

Thanks,
Matt.

when i had the 2.8 they came on with the side lights but not the dipped headlights, the switch in the car meant i could switch them off when on side lights.
or with the switch on, main beam included the spots but dipped was just the pale yellow isuzu glow ( more be seen than see with Laughing )

Yeah the dim dip thing is a PITA as it does put the main beams on dim when the sidelights are on, however, as I never run on just sidelights and have a switch it's not really a PITA. Took me a while to figure out the wiring when I was instaling them as I couldn't work out why I got a live on dip until it twigged. I also have a set of front fogs that are wired in an ignition switched feed but not inline with the lights so I can emul;ate the boy racers and run around with them on all the time or use them as extra fill when off road.

When wiring driving lights in, where is the best place to clip in to the main beam wire?

Can you clip in to it of the combination switch?

If so does anyone know the color on a 2.8?

I know I should get the testers out but I am a bit dense with wiring Embarassed Rolling Eyes

Also if anyone knows the wire colors the side light one (for fogs) would be very useful.

Thanks,
Matt.

I just went behind the drivers side headlight and cut in behind the plug, makes it easy to work out which is which with a multimeter probe shoved up the plug.

Yeah I just thought that if the switch is in the dash it would be allot less fuss to clip in under the dash, save running wire all the way to the light.

Right out with the tester (trying to remember how it works face)

All sorted now Very Happy

Thanks for the comments, as you said Philp pulling the plug of the back of the drivers side light and sticking the multimeter probe in is the easiest way

If any one wants to know, 2.8td main beam wire = Red with Black dots and NO stripe.
