Well here it is, in public view, 10 years old and not a candle in sight!!!  Sad

As the seasoned will immediately spot, flat top, so yes, I’m a petrol head…
This is original paint – never touched except wax and the occasional chip repair and that was minimal thanks to the effective Perspex (made in Australia) front stone-guard shield.

Here’s the rear-end, only thing done here is eradicating the dreaded red-dragon infected spare wheel clamp and bumper mounts (details available in separate posts), and repainting the lamp-guards.

Here’s a rear-end quarter view, now you can see the wheel re-furb.

Same with the front-end quarter view.

Now, if you got bored with that, here’s an insight into the underseal and wax (but I didn’t want to crawl under and use the flash – inner wheel-arch tells the story)…

Similar, here’s a close-up of a front wheel, blasted & powder-coated the alloy, the hub-caps were a whole different story and a source of major stress, but the paint shop corrected their errors…

Now whilst I do look after the old hump of metal, I have to acknowledge the support and help from my local Isuzu dealer. They actually work with me (in an unusual situation), to look after the vehicle in areas where I don’t have the experience, material or equipment to complete the task…

Now that gives me another idea – a “Guess the Mileage” competition… Wonder if the dealer would put up a prize? Idea  Very Happy

The re-furb / upgrade work is not finished, currently researching some add-ons… Suggestions appreciated!  Smile

Look after them dinosaurs… Unfortunately they ain’t coming back - which is a great shame!
I have actually put this ‘standard model’ through bits of courses where a standard Disco or RR failed (the instructor was well pi**ed-off). Embarassed  Cool

what's your throttle response like with the 3.5?

Had one a while back, wasn't impressed, sold it within a few months. Had loads of power, but the throttle response was terribly sensitive. Slightest touch would result in 3500RPM jump!

Very nice, I wish mine looked half as smart or the previous owners had looked after it a bit better and it might have been worth me trying to bring back to its former glory but alas it has seen to many scrapes and not enough wash buckets in its time I think.

Hiya mbw13,
Never had a problem with throttle response, almost perfect feedback and reaction with one exception...
Every so often, with no throttle applied, trooper central wants take over and drive faster and at rest idles at about 1,800 or so.  It's had more O2's / Lambda's than the warranty could throw at it - tech 2'd to death - print-outs sent to IM and all.  It still does it occasionally and I just learned to live with it (now where have you heard that before in lifes journey).

Sorry X66DAG,
Not even close, and in any case the "Guess the Mileage" idea is not officially launched as the dealer has not yet offered a prize, but I'm working on that...  Wink

Hi darren m,
As above, if a prize is on the table then a competition is looming...  Very Happy

Cheers all and thanks for your comments.  thumbup occasion5

Hiya,

Sorry for the long absence,  Embarassed

Unfortunately the Isuzu Dealer did not respond to my prize idea so this thread kind of got lost. Sad

The mileage at the time of the refurb in 2010 was 23,000 miles, so Darren M was the closest and wins a virtual prize... hello1 occasion5

Still have it, now with around 27,000 genuine on the clock.  hello2

Looks great CB. 37k miles is low, that has no doubt helped with its appearance. I recently sold a 30yr old car with that mileage. Sad to say time had not been quite as kind!

Wouldn't it be great if we could chose our own unique private reg. (within guidelines)?  Smile

Like the mileage, this one is genuine but I did airbrush out the first and last characters (both of which have a connection).  Wink
